It's that time again...movie date time!!! Halloween is in TWO days so Calypso, my forever Halloween cat, wanted to remind you all to be friendly with any black cats that cross your path š». Since All hallow's eve is just around the corner, I figured we can have one more themed cocktail before Thanksgiving time: HalloweenĀ Witches Brew Black Sangria!
With that, letĀ our October movie date commence!
Let's go to the Movies!
This was justĀ okay. Iām a big fan of the conjuring universe, especially the first and second Conjuring plus Annabelle Creation. The actual Nun makes her first appearance in the second Conjuring and was absolutely horrifying. I did enjoy The Nun because it gave us some interesting back story on her origins and how she tied into Ed and Lorraine Warrenās life. However, I definitely wasnāt as straight up terrified in this film as I was in previous installments. It was more jump scares (which were MORE than scary so thereās that) but not continuous terror that keeps me hiding my face behind my hands. Scary, but not nearly as thrilling as its predecessors.
Ā Rented for the Homestead:Ā Schittās Creek
I. Love. This. Show. I binged the fourth season in 3 days. Itās up on Netflix and itās my favorite season to date. A very wealthy, absolutely ridiculous family has their world as they know it ripped out from under them when their finance guy steals ALL their money without paying taxes and disappears, leaving them with one asset: the town Schittās Creek. As the towns owners, they get stuck in this epitome of Anytown, U.S.A and are forced to start their lives over, this time with each other in adjoining motel rooms. Schittās Creek, although at times humorously painful (hiding behind a blanket yelling "omgggg stop it youāre embarrassing yourself" at the tv) is one of my all time favorite shows. Eugene andĀ Daniel Levy play father and son and I canāt even itās so hilarious. I actually cried from laughing so hard to the point where I couldnāt breathe. Itās also surprisingly sweet and full of emotion, especially this forth season. If youāre looking for a good laugh with substance, this is the show for you!
Excited to See: Crimes of Grindlewald
Ummmmm OBVIOUSLY canāt wait to see this! Any excuse to continue the world of Harry Potter and Iām so there. I will say, if you hadnāt read Harry Potter or arenāt intrigued about itās universe at all, this probs isnāt the movie for you. The first one was absolutely stunning to look at, with an interesting plot but honestly the dialogue left a little something to be desired...It was kind of slow. But I didnāt mind because like I said, any excuse for more of the Harry Potter wizarding world!
Out of the Kitchen - October in Seattle
After the summers travels, staying in the city has been quite refreshing, especially this time of year! Autumn in Seattle is absolutely gorgeous. Recently we had a spell of thick fog that lingered for two days! Combined with the colorful trees, the leaves all over the ground, and a little breeze that kept kicking up, it looked straight out of a *not so scary* scary movie. The perfect Halloween weather!
We took advantage by finally carving our pumpkins, enjoying several scary movie nights with an enormous bowl of popcorn, a Hocus Pocus viewing complete with a ādrinking gameā (so much wine š„) and even a pumpkin beer/cider tasting! I also went my first trivia night for my friends birthday, SO much fun. We did get knocked from fourth to sixth place in the last two rounds šĀ but it was awesome. Definitely will be attending more trivia nights in the future.
Now Iām just waiting for Halloween!!! Trick or treaters always make my night šš. I maaaaay have over done it on the candy, but it was FIFTY percent off so really can you blame me??
